Register settings
The register is the unit of configuration. Everything on this page applies to one register only. Open a register and select the Settings tab.
Details
Name, description, key, and the home organisation unit.
The home unit is the most consequential field here. It decides which access grants reach this register and where its numbers roll up to in reporting. Changing it moves the register in both senses.
Assessment
The assessment methodology and the risk appetite band.
Changing the methodology creates a branch: the register’s existing scored state is frozen and a new branch is created with recalculated scores. The dialog tells you how many risks are affected before you confirm.
Layout
Two layouts, and the naming trips people up:
| Layout | Applies to |
|---|---|
| Risk form | Every risk in this register. |
| Register fields | The register record itself. |
Both show which layout is assigned, who else shares it, and how many records would be affected by a change. Create a copy for this register forks the layout so changes stop propagating from the shared original — and stop arriving from it too.
Access
Two switches, both covered in Your first risk register:
- Baseline access — whether everyone in scope automatically gets a low-level role here.
- Inherit from the organisation tree — turn off to make this a closed register that only direct grants reach.
This tab also lists the grants that currently reach this register and why each one does — by direct grant, by workspace, or inherited from a unit above.
Settings not yet available
The register settings navigation also lists Audits and reviews, Branches and scenarios, Integrations, Data and retention and a Danger zone. These are planned and not yet built. Do not rely on them in a rollout plan.
